Mid-January of this year we found out that my wife had stage 4 metastasized lung cancer. After serious discussion we decided to do At Home Hospice. I was her caretaker and walked with her through the dying process. It was the most profound experience of my life. She passed in late May. We had been together for 40 years.
I have a daughter and one granddaughter, who are now living in Syracuse New York after spending 2.5 years in Italy with her military husband who is going to Syracuse University for a double Master’s program for the Army.
I retired in February 2019 after 45 years in the steel and nuclear weapons industries here in Kansas City. My last job was as the Process, Quality Engineering and Safety Manager for a large steel forging shop that made steel grinding balls for the mining industry. Now that I have retired I do volunteer work as a “Handyman” for various organizations and work at a homeless shelter feeding the homeless several mornings per month. I also am addicted to golf, do projects on my 1925 home and build jewelry boxes and other woodworking projects.
